Zorina “Jeanie” Vega, lovingly known for her larger-than-life personality, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on April 27, 1950, in the Bronx, New York, and raised in Brooklyn, she was the proud daughter of a Puerto Rican mother and Cuban father whose culture, spirit, and style shaped the vibrant woman everyone came to love. Jeanie attended boarding school in upstate New York and lived life with adventure and flair from the very beginning — attending Woodstock and even seeing The Beatles perform live on The Ed Sullivan Show. In 1976, she made Las Vegas her home, where she became a poker dealer at the legendary Tropicana Hotel & Casino. With her sassy New York Rican attitude and unforgettable sense of humor, she dealt cards to celebrities including Redd Foxx, Bill Cosby, Doug Henning, and Jerry Lewis. She never took any smack from anyone, yet somehow always left people laughing and wanting to be around her. Wherever she went, Jeanie made an entrance — and she was always the highlight of the show. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Jeanie leaves behind her son, Jimmy who was not only her child but her best friend and loyal sidekick; a beloved daughter, Cindy who she endlessly bragged about and admired as a wonderful mother; cherished grandchildren Christopher, Anthony, Adriana, Alec, and Albert, who proudly carry her resemblance and spirit; and beautiful great-granddaughters Abigail and Zailey, whom she adored deeply. She also leaves behind her brother Kevin in Puerto Rico. Raised in the Catholic faith, Jeanie received her First Communion at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. She was a true diva in every sense — fashionable, glamorous, often wearing one of her signature hats, and always ready to make someone laugh or offer a shoulder to cry on. She was also an incredible cook, known for bringing family together with delicious Puerto Rican and Italian meals made with love. Zorina “Jeanie” Vega will be remembered for her humor, strength, style, warmth, and the unforgettable joy she brought into every room she entered. May her laughter echo in the hearts of all who knew her, and may her memory continue to live on through the love, strength, and spirit of her family. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort knowing that Jeanie lived boldly, loved fiercely, and left behind a legacy full of laughter, resilience, culture, and unforgettable memories. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
