Pearlie Mae Woods

Pearlie Mae Lewis was born on August 10, 1950, in Monroe, Louisiana, to Dan and Gertrude Lewis. At an early age, she accepted Christ at Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Reverend G. K. Smith, and the family later joined Antioch Baptist Church. She later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, to complete high school and live with her older sister. Shortly after arriving in Las Vegas, Pearl was blessed with her first daughter, Katrina. A dear friend invited her to visit Victory Missionary Baptist Church, pastored by Rev. A. J. Thompson, where Pearl and Katrina soon became members. During this time, Pearl was introduced to Jimmy Woods, and the two were married on December 17, 1971. On June 15, 1972, they welcomed their second daughter, Cassandra Denise, a beautiful bundle of joy. Their third daughter, LaShaun Tenell, was born on December 14, 1974. Pearl dedicated over 20 years of service to Valley Hospital and later medically retired from Mountain View Hospital. She also worked part-time as a homecare giver, as she truly enjoyed helping others. In her spare time, she loved thrift-store shopping. Pearl was strong-willed, caring, assertive, kind, and loving. She was God-fearing and deeply believed in prayer and fellowship. She later joined The Potter’s Place Church under the leadership of Pastor Toni Collins-Barringer, where she faithfully served as Head Usher and later as a member of the Nursing Guild. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23. Pearl loved spending quality time with her children bowling, playing tennis, and watching movies. She enjoyed road trips to Lake Mead, Tule Springs, and California. One of her most cherished memories was traveling to Disney World with her siblings and mother—a trip she often spoke about with joy. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Gertrude Lewis; her brothers Joe Lewis, Willie Lewis, and Thomas Boyd Jr.; and her daughters Katrina Woods and Cassandra Denise Woods. She leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Katie Henson (Huey) and Carolyn Smith; her brothers, Robert Lewis and Melvern Lewis (Rosetta); her daughter, LaShaun Parker (Dion), of Las Vegas, Nevada; her grandchildren, Leilani Thomas and Daniel Parker; her bonus daughter, Nakia Prater (Alonzo); her goddaughter, Aletha Solomon; her bonus grandchildren, Asia Parker and Michael Collinsworth; special friends, Dorothy Hampton, Rosie Monroe, and Dorothy Treadwell; and a host of loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
