Georgia Ruth James

Georgia Ruth James, age 85, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Tuesday night, October 21, 2025. Georgia was born on March 4, 1940, in Havre, Montana to George and Lenore Gibson. Georgia is preceded in death by her parents. Georgia was the middle child between sisters Jeanne, and Eleanor. Early in her life, Georgia was a bit of tomboy, but she also was bit of cowgirl too. She loved tap dancing and going to the rodeo. Georgia finished her education at Havre High, class of 1958. Georgia as she would say was not the brightest, but she always worked hard to excel in her studies. Her desire and passion in 1958 was to become a professional businesswoman. With her hard work and dedication Georgia was accepted to the University of Washington. Georgia attended University of Washington for a short time before a family emergency led her to return home to Havre. Georgia married in June 1959, and from this union she had three children (Jeannie, Tim, and Kevin). She eventually moved to Las Vegas in 1965. With her desire to become a professional businesswoman still burning she set her path. Georgia first worked as a secretary to the Innkeeper at the Holiday Inn on the Strip. Georgia then landed a gig as a Room Reservationist at Caesars Palace. From here Georgia moved up the corporate ladder rather quickly. Georgia was soon promoted to Assistant Manager, then finally achieving the role of Reservations Manager. Due to her hard work Georgia was one of the first women to hold a managerial position on the Strip. Georgia would go on to have that successful professional businesswoman career she so desire. She held many other professional businesswoman roles such Los Angeles Olympics Housing Administrator, Director of Rooms at the Hotel Queen Mary, and Reservations Manager at Opryland. Georgia also had a very successful career in real estate selling areas known as the Naked City in Las Vegas. She worked hard to be a leader, and she stressed this to her kids, and grandkids. She loved being the center of attention. Georgia was affectionately known to her grandkids as Grandma Dodo. Georgia loved outings with her family and friends where she often brought her specialty Deviled Eggs. She was a huge fan of Diet Coke; they might go out of business with her being gone. Georgia was preceded in death by her oldest son Timothy J. Kuiava, DDS, grandson Matthew S. Sathrum, sister, Jeanne O’Connor, and sister Eleanor Foss. Georgia is survived by her daughter Jeannie Mitchell (Lamarr) of Las Vegas, Kevin Kuiava (Ivy) of Las Vegas, daughter-in-law Gail Kuiava of North Hollywood, granddaughter Brittany Tucker (Mat) of Las Vegas, granddaughter Quincey Jamgotchian (Daniel) of Sherman Oaks, Jessie Obergh (Cody) of Las Vegas, granddaughter Keelie Mitchell of Las Vegas, great-grandson Grayson Tucker, great-granddaughter Juliet Tucker, great-granddaughter Kinsley Obergh, and great-granddaughter Ava Obergh. Although Georgia's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to live within all of us that knew and loved her.
