Celebrating the Life Of George Tillman Jr. George Tillman Jr was born on November 27, 1953 in Franklin, Louisiana to George Tillman Sr. and Gertrude Williams- Tillman, who preceded him in death. In 1960 George along with his mother and two sisters relocated to Las Vegas, NV. George only attended two years of school in Franklin, Louisiana before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada where he attended school through Clark County School District for ten years. George joined Saint James Baptist church;where He was baptized by Rev. Donel Horn. George began working for Republic Services and held that job for several years. He then went on to work at the Stardust Hotel as a Casino Porter Supervisor. George had a vision of one day having his own successful business. While working towards his dream George accepted a Supervisor position at the MGM in 1994 over the Trash and Linen Department along with working his side cleaning contracts of Barber shops and Beauty shops in Hotels along the Las Vegas Strip. George worked hard and eventually started his Business "Tillman Janitorial Enterprise" His hard work was noticed by many and his business grew from having a few small contracts to having contracts with the Government, a fire station, six Rainbow Medical Buildings, Mountain Top Church and Greater St James MBC. George then proceeded to open a restaurant which he named after his mother "Gertrude's Diner". In 2006 his health began to decline when he was diagnosed with kidney failure. Therefore he was forced to retire from all his business. Throughout his life George always made sure if anyone needed anything at all that they had what they needed to get by. As his family will say " he acted like he was the richest man in the world". He loved his family with everything as well as his close friends. He supported everyone's dreams and always told them that they can achieve great things. He also never missed a special occasion for any of his family members, if he couldn't make it to the event he for sure called. George loved to play Poker, and Card games with his nieces, nephews, and grandkids. He would always win, but it never stopped them from coming back to spend quality time with him. George loved to cook big meals for his friends and family. He would invite them over to eat so they could sit down and spend quality time together. He enjoyed going to the stores early in the morning, and sitting outside watering his plants. He listened to 88.1 especially on Thursday for oldies but goodies, and on Sunday's he enjoyed listening to the gospel. George leaves behind the following to cherish his memories: his four daughters Jeanette Tillman, Christel Tillman, Georgette Tillman all of Las Vegas, NV ( Mother Chestine Carter). Sharanda Tillman of Covington, GA ( Mother Janet Hester). Three sisters Minerva A Tillman, Charlotte A Tillman of Las Vegas, NV. Leisha A Tillman-Gasper of New Orleans,LA. Two brothers Benard Tillamn ( Sandy) and Brain Tillman of New Orleans, LA. His Step-Mom Ruthie Burell-Tillman of New Orleans, LA and one auntie Emmaline Williams of Las Vegas, NV. Eleven grandchildren: Justin, Franswa (Jojo), Denziel, Macey, J'Naya, Cheyenne, John ( Poppers), Desmond, Tiana, Jaylen, and Javion. A host of nieces, nephews, Great nieces and nephews, cousins. His great friends Roy, Rozlin, and Gary along with many others.
