Danny Keith Smith Sr.

Born on November 8, 1951, and called home on April 12, 2026, Danny lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and a spirit that never slowed down. Raised in East Alton, Illinois, he later made his way west, carrying with him the resilience, loyalty, and determination that would define the man so many loved. He was the beloved son of Claude and Roberta Smith, a devoted husband to Rosa, and a proud father to his two children, Danny Smith Jr. and Stephanie Hendrix. Danny Jr. was lovingly known as the good kid, while Stephanie was affectionately remembered as the troublemaker and his partner in crime, a reflection of the laughter, teasing, and special bond they shared throughout his life. He also held close the family they built, lovingly embracing Danny’s wife, Haleaka, and Stephanie’s husband, Jeremiah, as cherished parts of his life and legacy. His family was the center of his world, and one of his greatest joys was watching it grow through his five cherished grandchildren: Ericka, Cynthia, Carlitos, Hakeem Jr., and Cameron. Known for his hardworking nature, he spent his life providing for those he loved. A true non-complainer, he kept moving forward no matter what life placed in front of him. After years of hard labor, working two jobs, and facing life’s many challenges, his strength never wavered. He was a fighter in every sense of the word. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved going out to eat, especially at his favorite place, Steak ’n Shake. He enjoyed building model cars, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and putting together train sets at Christmas, traditions that brought warmth and happiness to his family. More than anything, Danny will be remembered for the life he built, the love he poured into his family, and the steady, dependable presence he gave to everyone around him. His legacy lives on in the memories he created, the values he passed down, and the love that will continue through the generations of family he cherished so deeply. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
