Brian "Salty Dog" Tackett Let me introduce you to the man behind the mask. He was many things to many people. As a Husband- He was devoted to his wife and loved her unconditionally. From his wife, Cyndy~ Although he wore a crotchety, cantankerous facade with pride, he shared the best of himself with me alone. He was loving and caring, in fact he informed me regularly, "I'm a sensitive guy". He loved me and I love him. My soul aches for you. We have known each other forever, from toddlers playing together, to teenagers in love, to married with three children and eight grandchildren. He was my hero and my best friend. I will miss him for as long as I am on this earth and until we can be together again. As a Dad- He was tough and gruff and he was so proud of his three kids, he loved them all with his whole heart. From his oldest son, Shaun Katz~ "The sea, once it casts it's spell, holds one in its net forever. -by Jacques Cousteau." My Pops set off to find calmer waters for him and Papa to fish on until we can catch up. From his daughter, Tawny Hall~ There isn't much to say for a man of so few words...to quote you "Death is a part of life". That is a lesson you taught me and it will always stick. I love you so much! You will always be one of my favorite humans! From his youngest son, Levi Tackett~ I cant think of any one thing he used to do that stuck out to me because it was everything. He was the best father anyone could have. He was stubborn as hell but full of love to give. He was always willing to help if you were willing to ask for it. I love him with everything I have and will miss him dearly. As a Papa- He loved his grandkids more than they will ever know, he loved being their Papa. His grandkids were many, with seven girls and one boy, and they all love their Papa beyond measure. From his granddaughters, Alissa Katz, Jasmine Katz, Leah Katz, Melody Katz, and Aurora Katz~ We all love you and will miss you so much. From his granddaughter, Jaylynn Hall~ My favorite thing he would say is "I'm a grumpy old man, get out of my chair!" I hope your next chair is as comfortable as the one you had in this life. I miss you, Papa. From his grandson, Yuri Tackett and his granddaughter, Zamora Tackett~ Papa, we love you so much. As a Son - He always respected his parents and appreciated the life they were able to provide for him. From his mom, Marie Tackett~ My son loved his family very much. He grew up loving the water, rock climbing, and was fond of hunting trips. He was a very unique young man. He loved life and lived it with gusto in his own way As a Brother- He did his best to be there at hard times to try to guide and show a new way of looking at things. From his sister, Tasha Tackett~ You were there for me when I needed you the most and I didn't even know it. As a Friend- He was a good man and a great friend. All of his friends loved him dearly. From his Poker Night Friends~ Poker player extraordinaire, "I hope you pull all the inside straights your heart desires." Seat #4 will always be yours, Brian! He was our Salty Dog, our Aqua Man, and most of all, our friend. Brian's seat at the poker table is empty now, but his place in our hearts will never be. For those of us lucky enough to call him friend, we knew the kind, sensitive person underneath the tough exterior. He was one that would do anything for a friend. He loved poker night gatherings with friends and we loved his antics and his infectious giggle that often dissolved into tears. We will not forget him, we will invoke his name on many occasions, and we will all miss him. FIA Brian!!! From the Shenanigan Clan~ When hijinks and mischief are in order, there will be one less person to answer the call. We will miss Brian's eagerness for escapades, his fondness for frolicking, and his craving for capers. Although our hearts are heavy we will continue the quest, as he would have wanted, to bring some levity to the world. "The drinking shall continue until morale improves." From the Polish Navy~ "We will miss you One Flop!" There is so much more than could be said about this man, and yet words escape so many that have shared in his loss. "Your wings were ready for you, but our hearts were not ready for you to go!"
