Roosevelt R. Bennett, Sr. Born October 12, 1942 left this earth peacefully on August 11, 2020 at the age of 78. "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me so that you also may be where I am." (John 14:1-3) Roosevelt was born October 12, 1942 in Anniston, Alabama. He was surrounded by three generations of family and loved ones when he took his last breath on earth and gained his angel wings. Roosevelt R. Bennett, a retired businessman and longtime resident of Washington State was a devoted family man and avid sportsman. Roosevelt loved his children and always shared how proud he was of their accomplishments. As small children, he would teach Sonny, Stephanie, and his little "princess" Loyce - survival skills like archery, weaponry, hunting, and hand to hand combat. This was his personal way of teaching his children how to survive in this brothers. Their brotherly bond was admirable and the bond was unbreakable. He loved his sisters and enjoyed motherly talks, home-cooked meals and sweet potato pies. Roosevelt loved having family barbecues and showing off his freshly manicured award winning lawn. He was full of life and was the favorite uncle to all his nieces and nephews. Roosevelt was raised in a Christian family and in his later years re-dedicated his life to God. This gave him solace when God called his name and said "all is well." Proceeding in passing was his parents, William "Will" and Nettie Bennett, one brother, Johnnie "Junior" Bennett, three sisters , Elizabeth "Bess" Spiegner, Joanne Rowlands, and Nettie Louise Allen, two nephews, Randy Bennett and Jeffrey James, and one niece, Sandra Crittendon. Roosevelt is survived by his son, Sonny R. Bennett (Dallas), two daughters, Stephanie Y. Russell, and Loyce J. Bryant, (Kenney Sr.), his wife, Brenda Defillipis', stepsons, Larry Defillipis and Carlos Defilippis, grandchildren, Santasha, Latoya, Kenney Jr., Lillian, Nicholas, Charles Jr., Kelani, Isaiah, Leilani, and Keoni. One sister, Erma Lee James, four brothers, Douglas "Doug" Bennett, Charles "Tony" Bennett, Dennis "Ray" Bennett, and Robert "Bobby" Bennett and a host of nephews and nieces. Tribute To My Grandfather! Always remember that our souls are connected beyond this life, and will be bonded together as family for eternity! At the end of life there's sunshine; I'll be watching and waiting for you." So put your arms around him, Lord, And keep him forever safe, For he was someone special And can never be replaced Daddy, you will forever be missed but never forgotten!
