Robert Lynn Haynie

It is with broken hearts that we say goodbye to Robert Lynn Haynie. Robert was born in Iowa on January 1, 1938. He was an Iowa farmer, a Navy veteran, a businessman, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a great-grandfather. But to his family, he was so much more than any title could ever describe. At just 17 years old, one day after graduating high school, Robert joined the United States Navy. He was incredibly proud to have served his country, and that pride remained with him throughout his life. He was an independent and hardworking man who believed in earning what you had, keeping your word, and doing the right thing—even when no one was watching. Robert had a heart unlike any other. He was selfless and kindhearted, the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice. His loyalty ran deep, and his integrity was something you could always count on. He didn't always need a lot of words to show you how he cared. He showed it through the things he did, the people he helped, and the way he quietly took care of those he loved. He was also gentle. He loved dogs and had a soft spot for them that showed the tender side of the man many knew for his strength and independence. Robert shared 63 years of marriage with the love of his life, Patricia. Together, they built a life in Nevada and owned a business side by side. Losing her in 2021 left an enormous emptiness in his life, and we find comfort in believing they are together again now. To his family, he was a steady presence and someone they could always count on. To his grandchildren, he was their beloved grandpa. And to his great-grandchildren, he was a cherished part of the family whose memory will live on through them. He leaves behind his daughter, Teri Guest; his grandchildren, Thomas Guest, Brynlee Guest, Berklee Guest, and Breckyn Guest; and his great-grandchildren, Camilla, Malia, and Tatum. There are no words big enough to express how much he meant to us or how deeply he will be missed. We will miss his presence, his strength, his gentle heart, and simply knowing he was there. We hope to carry forward the things he taught us without ever having to say them: work hard, stand on your own, be loyal, keep your word, help those who need you, and always do what is right. We are grateful for every year, every memory, and every moment we were blessed to have with Robert. He was deeply loved. He is deeply missed. And he will forever be a part of us. Until we meet again.
