Norma Jean Taitano

Norma Jean Taitano, 65, of Las Vegas, Nevada has returned home to Our Heavenly Father, her parents, and siblings in Heaven on September 17, 2021. She was born on March 8, 1956, in Tamuning, Guam. She was raised in the village of Santa Rita by her loving parents Jose Taitano and Maria Q Taitano. Norma graduated from John F Kennedy High School in 1975. During her youth, she was an amazing athlete; she even played volleyball for Guam in the South Pacific Games (Multiple times.). In everything she did, Norma was the one to save the day, a trait she carried all throughout her life. To be honest, she was a force to be reckoned with whenever she set her mind to it. After graduation she ventured to the States and graduated from San Jose State University with a BS in Human Performance/Physiology. With this newly achieved degree, Norma returned back home and decided to give back to her community. She became an educator and started molding young minds. Whilst teaching, Norma continued her education at UOG to earn her Master's degree in Education. She became a teacher, coach, acting principal, and a strong standing pillar in the Department of Education on Guam. Norma lived her life to serve others. Whether it be through education, community service, church outreach, coaching numerous sports, or even caring for her family, Norma gave till there was nothing left. Everyone on island knew of the amazing woman simply known as "Ms. T". Norma was the embodiment of love. Love for the church, love for her friends, love for her students, and most of all--family. Eighth child out of fifteen, Norma learned what unconditional love was at a young age. She cared so deeply for her siblings, even becoming the caregiver for most when they fell ill. She pitied the thought of having her siblings being taken care of by anybody other than family. She was an amazing aunt to all of her nieces and nephews, having raised a handful of them herself throughout the years. She was an incredible mother. She is survived by her only son, Christopher John Taitano. She raised him to be like her father: strong, independent, caring, and kind. He chooses to live his life like her: to love with no regard, care with everything in him, and fight with all his might. He will miss her for the rest of his days. To know Norma Jean Taitano, is to know of her devotion to the Lord. Norma was rooted in her faith. As an avid churchgoer, she attended mass religiously and joined many ministries pertaining to it. Before leaving Guam, she was a eucharistic minister, lector, alter server at times, and a member of multiple church choirs. Her son attended many masses during Sunday, many of which were not of his own volition. She would constantly be praying; many family members will remember being a part of Norma's rosaries during family gatherings and will remember her fondly because of it. She may be gone, but the impact she had on the family's faith will live on. She will certainly be greeted at the heavenly gates with arms wide open, not only because of her devotion, but because of her amazing heart. She will be sorely missed by those she's left behind, but the comfort of knowing she is finally at peace will allow the Taitano family to breathe a sigh of relief. Norma Jean Taitano...fly high and join our family in heaven. Tell them the stories of our lives on earth, for we will revel in each other's presence together in His kingdom. Her nieces and nephews: Jordan E. Taitano ?, Jonathan T. Santos, Arnell C. Leon Guerrero, Joel N. Taitano, Robyn L. Leon Guerrero, Jade M. Taitano, Matthew J. Taitano ?, Dana M. Taitano, Heather J. Tyson, Jake R. Taitano, Samantha J. Taitano, Jazmyne M. Taitano, Montana S. Taitano, Marleena L. Sonico, Jacqueline V. Dutt, Julius T. Dutt, Mylani F. Sonico She is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews: King Leon Guerrero, Christian T. Leon Guerrero, Joseph Arriola, Angelyse Taitano, Kepuha Leon Guerrero, Trinity Taitano, Kaylani Arriola, Joshiah Santos, Alejandra Taitano, Elijah Santos, Keola Leon Guerrero, Ayla Taitano, Addison Pascal, Maia Quitugua She is predeceased by her grandmother, Felicita Quinata Sablan, her three older sisters, Margarita Q. Taitano, Fermina Taitano, Anisia T. Santos, Katherine R. Taitano. Most recently her two other sisters passed within the same week: Natividad M Taitano, and Melissa M Taitano. She is also predeceased by her brothers-in-law Avelino Santos and Arthur Leon-Guerrero.
