Michael Lynn McDonald

Michael Lynn McDonald passed on July 12, 2023, to be with the Lord, his parents, older brother, and nephew. He joins patriarch and Veteran Thomas McDonald, Jr., matriarch Shirley L. McDonald, oldest brother and Veteran Kenneth McDonald, nephew Kendall Ellis McDonald, and our many ancestors. Michael was born on March 6, 1956 in La Chapelle-St. Mesmin Orleans,France. He was an army brat due to our father serving in the U.S. Army andtraveling the world. In El Paso, Texas, Michael went to Logan ElementarySchool, Ross Intermediate School, Burgess High School, Parkland HighSchool, and graduated from Andress High School. He was a fun-loving,enterprising, and engaging youth. He worked at the Fort Bliss Commissary.After high school, while in his early twenties, he was married briefly to a niceyoung lady. They divorced after a year. He then began his military career inthe U.S. Army and enlisted in 1978, and reenlisted in1981, for a brief stint. Michael is lovingly remembered as a big brother who was fiercelyprotective of his family and his friends. Michael was very popular growing up,had several friends, and a quiet leader.He was handsome, clean-cut, and aladies' man, very charming, dressed well, smelled good, and always hadimpeccable manners. He loved to ensure that his pants were creased toperfection. Girls wanted to date him, and guys wanted to be like him.Michael was naturally gifted at playing the clarinet, and should have been first chair clarinet. However, instead he chose to sit with the third part clarinets because of the ladies. Again, he was very protective of his family and friends. No one ever dared cross him or mess with him. Michael had an unspoken presence of letting people know not to bother him, or anyone he cared about. He was a survivor. Michael was a quiet man who loved the simple pleasures in life. He was free-hearted. He stayed to himself. He loved movies, sandwiches, Lays potato chips,Danish pastries, and candy. Overall, Michael was a kind and gentle soul whowill be dearly missed by all.Michael....Always in our hearts. A Memorial Service and Celebration of life was held on August 24, 2023 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City located at 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, Nevada 89005.
