Margie Vasquez Layug

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Margie Layug, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who went home to the Lord on August 17th, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in the Bicol Province of the Philippines, in the town of Albay, Margie lived her life as a faithful servant of God and a proud woman of deep Catholic faith. She found strength and joy in prayer, in her church community, and in the love of her family. Her devotion to God guided every step she took, and she leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and unwavering love. She was the beloved wife of her late husband, Benjamin Layug, with whom she shared a marriage built on faith, love, and commitment. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home, where family and friends were always received with open arms and a full table. A homemaker at heart, Margie poured her love into caring for others. She was happiest when cooking for her family, sharing laughter over meals, or joining friends for activities like bingo and swimming. Her generosity, hospitality, and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. She lovingly raised her only child, Maria Victoria Layug Landry, and also embraced Gerald, Daisy, Anjellie, and Lamberto as her own children, building a blended family rooted in love and faith. She will be remembered as a devoted mother who nurtured her children with patience and unconditional love, a doting grandmother whose hugs and smiles could brighten any day, and a loving sister whose bond with her siblings remained strong throughout her life. Margie is the third child of nine by her late parents, Mariano and Rosita. Her late siblings: Alberto, Adelina, Santiago, and Rafael, whom she will be welcomed by in the Kingdom of Heaven. She will be survived by her remaining siblings; Jimena, Ludema, Antonio, and Genelita. Her children, Maria, Gerald, Daisy, Anjellie, and Lamberto (and wife, Jhen); her grandchildren, Victor, Melissa, Joshua, Althea, Zander, Jacob, Nathan, and Nathalia; and her great-grandchildren, Addison and Sophia. She is now reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband, Benjamin, and all who went before her. Her family and friends take comfort in knowing that she has been called home to the loving embrace of the Lord she served so faithfully. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her faith, love, and memory will live forever in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
