Judith Anne Lanfear

Judith Anne Lanfear, aged 81, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away peacefully on May 9, 2023, surrounded by family. Judy will no longer be in pain, as she had been battling complications from various injuries and dementia.She was born August 16, 1941, to Ivan and Anne Lopez, in San Luis Obispo, California. She was raised in SLO and graduated from Mission Catholic High School.Judy was a devoted wife to her husband, Raymond, for nearly 60 years, a testament to their enduring love and commitment to each other. They met in the basement of Savings & Loan where Judy worked and would carry down printing assignments, where Ray would operate the press during college. They fell in love, and married in Las Vegas in 1963, and returned as full-time residents for the past 16 years. Prior to that, they lived in several cities in Central and Southern California, and Colorado.During their marriage, they had the opportunity to travel the world, including a trip to Egypt where they rode camels around the Pyramids. Judy enjoyed cruises and sitting on the balconies watching scenic views along ocean stops.Judy was a devout Catholic and active member of St. Viator Catholic Church. Her unwavering faith in Catholicism provided her comfort. She was also active with the wives of the Knights of Columbus, Council 8282 in Las Vegas. She volunteered for many charitable events, but her favorite was the annual Fish Fry.After many years of working in banking, Judy retired and became a full-time homemaker and lived out her life with her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved her morning coffee, reading romantic novels, listening to Frank Sinatra, and watching her favorite TV shows which included Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Dodgers baseball games, and various crime shows.She will be remembered for her love of cats and her volunteer work at homeless shelters for cats. Over the years, she accumulated a collection of over a few thousand cat figurines from around the world. Judy never met a cat she didn't love and wanted to hold! Her real pet cat, Houdini, was at her side until the end.Judith is survived by her husband, Raymond; three children, John (Lorae) Lanfear, Lance (Holly) Lanfear and Raeanne (Bob) Allande; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter as well as her brother Ronald W. Lopez.Nothing gave her more joy than her family. She found true enjoyment in such traditions as family BBQs, birthdays, and celebrations of accomplishments. Watching her grandchildren grow up and become good citizens pleased her immensely. Judy lived a full and loving life and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her soul rest in peace.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to any charity serving the needs of dementia patients. The burial and short service will take place at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada on Monday, May 22nd, 2023, at 9:05 am. There are also plans for a special dinner to be held on/about August 17th to celebrate Judy's life and what would have been the 60th anniversary of her marriage to Ray. Prayer of St. Francis Lord make me an instrument of Thy peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned and it is in dying, that we are born to eternal life.
