John George Gamoke

John George Gamoke, age 73, passed away peacefully on October 30th, 2022, after a long struggle with health complications. On December 10th, 1948, John was born the first of five children, followed by Gary Gamoke, Jody Skarr (deceased) , Darcy (Richard) Sobye, Kim Gamoke, to parents George John Gamoke and Geneva June (Sanboe) Gamoke, in Rockford , IL. John George Gamoke was drafted into the U.S. Army, and served our country proudly during the Vietnam War. John is humbly survived by his only child Jason Gamoke, his Daughter-in-law Joanie Gamoke and five Grandchildren, Hunter John Gamoke, Brandon William Gamoke, Megan Marie Hoeth, Easton James Gamoke and Dayne George Gamoke. John was an avid Green Bay Packer, Wisconsin Badger, and a Milwaukee Brewers fan. Throughout his adult life he spent most of his time with his family operating Taverns, Chapter II, Go's Place and Go's West, until moving to Las Vegas, NV and opening the Plate Bar and Grill with his Partner in Life, Laurie Everts, which he was still running and operating up until his hospitalization this fall. Throughout the years John G. Gamoke was an active member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Tavern League of Wisconsin. He was truly proud to be an American as one of John's favorite songs states 'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land, God Bless the USA!!'. Another one of John's favorites has the words 'A star is born, a star burns out, the only thing that stays the same is Everything changes, Everything changes.....Time Marches on, Time marches on ~ Tracy Lawrence. John touched the lives of so many people over the years. Though his physical presence is gone, his spirit lives on with all of us, forever! John's time with all of us was too short, but he loved every minute of it! John left us while living his dream of owning a bar in Vegas. FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS I'm Free Don't grieve for me for now I'm free. I'm following the path God has laid you see. I took His hand when I heard His call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day to laugh, to love, to work, or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. O yes, these things too, I will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full I savored much, good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief. Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee... God wanted me now. He set me free.
