Edward David Schefris

Edward David Schefris, of Las Vegas, passed away on March 26, 2021. He was born October 14, 1942 to Jeanne and Meyer Schefris, in Chicago, Illinois. One fun fact about Edward is that he worked for Warner Brothers! He was a wonderful man. Ed is preceded in death by his beautiful daughter Cynthia Laurie Schefris. Edward is survived by his son David, sisters Barbara (Haim) and Sandra; grandson Ryan; niece Staci Deitch; nephew Jeffrey Deitch; grandnieces and grandnephews Cynthia, Zachary, Allie, Zoe and Ozzie. I loved my brother dearly. Since we moved from Chicago 10 years ago to Nevada, we became very close and saw each other all the time. He was always visiting with me and my husband, Haim at our home. We always had big dinners and I cooked enough food so he had plenty to take home and freeze to eat for weeks. I gave him what I could and helped him out whenever possible. When he couldn't drive his car because his windshield wipers didn't work, I would take him to his Dr.'s appointments or his neighbor and dear friend Brian would take him. Brian helped my brother for years doing whatever Edward needed and I am forever grateful to him. My brother was a very loving and caring person. Edward didn't have much, but nevertheless people will always remember how he was so kind and thoughtful. I remember when I bought him clothes and he called me to say how wonderful he felt when he tried them on. Many times a friend came over to share dinner with us and we would play games or watch movies. It was a little enjoyment for him in a life that was not always filled with happiness. He suffered for many years in excruciating pain from many back surgeries which only got worse with age. He dealt with it as he did with everything else in his life. I miss my brother so much and cherish the 10 years we had together. We grew so close during this time in our lives and I will never forget how fortunate I was to be able to share this time with him. I will always remember my brother Edward, "Edward, you will always have a place in my heart." I know he is not in pain anymore and pray he is at long last in peace and with his beautiful daughter Cynthia Laurie Schefris who passed away too young. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. When ever we spoke on the phone we never said goodbye, we always said I love you, so I will say I love you Edward.... Miss me a little, but not too long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared. Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take and each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends we knew and laugh at the things that we used to do. Miss me, but let me go.
