David Stephen Aitken

Dad was a tinkerer and an inventor - quirky and different. He always saw potential in something as simple as pantyhose holders or a coffee can. He loved everything electronic, weather, music, technology, ect. He was a man of truth and honor; irrespective of what anyone wanted to hear or thought of him. He preferred to do things his way and definitely danced to the beat of his own drum. He was never a follower. He had the biggest heart - he would help a stranger or anyone in need in any way he could. He loved flying and planes; the mountains; fishing; driving; cars - he loved his Camaro Z28. What he loved most of anything was his wife Connie of 50 years, his son David Jr., his daughter Wendy, his grand kids and great grand kids. Starting to go through his stuff this has become more evident than ever. He worked in the medical field and transport most of his life. He did non-emergency transport for AMR for 13 years; and previously owned his own medical transport and taxi service in Colorado. He grew up in Massachusetts and was the middle of three boys. He loved ice skating, scuba diving, playing the drums and running in his younger years. He joined the Air Force and served about one year in 1965 - that is around the time he met my mother. He was a lover of animals especially dogs. We always had dogs growing up. He was a keeper of things - like I said he always seen potential in things that most people would have viewed as junk. He had the deepest and brightest blue eyes of anyone I have ever met and silver hair from as long as I can remember. He loved his food. He was preceded by his father - Arthur, mother - Barbara, brother - Richard, mother in law Mary Edna, sister in law Linda and niece Sonia. He is survived by his wife Connie Aitken; son David Aitken, Jr. (wife Lara Aitken); daughter Wendy Applegate; grandchildren Justin Hasenheyer (partner Sarah Dietz), Brendan Inman (wife Johanna Inman), Tyler Aitken, Jordan Applegate, Samantha Applegate and Ryan Peterson Jr. (R.J.); and great-grandchildren Adrian Dietz, Stormy Hasenheyer, Allisyn Inman, Annalyn Inman and Madisyn Inman; as well as his father in law Lawrence Munsch, sister in laws, Bonnie Bogenhagen (husband Gary Bogenhagen), Kay Ann Sexson (husband Dick Sexson), Peggy Moberly (husband Rod Moberly), and Cindy Hoffman (husband Dan Hoffman), and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews including his god son Aaron Bogenhagen
