With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Daniel Geralt, a beloved husband, father, brother, papa, and esteemed member of our community. After a valiant battle with colon cancer, Daniel peacefully departed from this world on Saturday, March 9, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was 77 years old. Born on June 17, 1946, Daniel lived a life defined by love, service, and unwavering dedication to his family and country. For 38 years, he shared a deep love with his devoted wife, Carleen Geralt. Together, they raised three children, James, Danielle, and Lois Ann, who brought joy and pride into his life. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren, Grace, Josh, Carlie, Jameson (his Bosun), Micah (his Navigator), and Naomi, whom he adored beyond measure. Daniel's commitment to his family was matched only by his dedication to his country. A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, Daniel served his nation with honor and distinction. His sense of duty extended far beyond the battlefield, as he remained a dedicated military reservist, serving his country for over 40 years. Daniel embodied the principles of service and sacrifice throughout his life. In addition to his military service, Daniel found fulfillment as a science teacher at John Burroughs Middle School, where he inspired countless young minds. His impact on his students extended far beyond the classroom, leaving an indelible mark on their lives for years to come.Known for his boundless generosity and zest for life, Daniel had a love for entertaining that brought joy to all who knew him. He delighted in hosting gatherings where he would insist, with a twinkle in his eye, that "if you leave here hungry, it's your own fault." His love for adventure took him to the Kern River Valley, where he explored its beauty from boyhood as a Boy Scout well into adulthood, creating cherished memories that he shared with friends and loved ones. Music was another passion of Daniel's, and he found great joy in playing the guitar and mandolin, singing and composing songs, often accompanied by his brother or the light of a campfire. His love for music lives on through his son and granddaughter, who inherited his talent and appreciation for music. Daniel Geralt's life was a testament to the power of love, courage, and resilience. He lived by the "Code of the West, the Call of the Wild, and the Law of the Seven Seas," embodying the spirit of adventure, integrity, and honor in all that he did.
