“Tatang • Dad • Kuya • Uncle • Grandpa Noy” 1932 – 2025 It is with deep love and profound respect that we announce the passing of Celestino Remo Soliza Sr., affectionately known by many names—Tatang, Dad, Kuya, Uncle, and Grandpa Noy—at the age of 93. A steadfast patriarch and the enduring pillar of the Soliza family, Celestino’s life was a living testament to resilience, honor, and unconditional love. He was respected, hardworking, old-school in values, and deeply loved by all who had the privilege to know him. A Legacy Rooted in Courage and Devotion Celestino was born in Batangas, Philippines, where his remarkable journey began. During World War II, at only seven years old, he made the brave choice to leave school in the third grade to assist the Filipino resistance against Japanese occupation. Serving as a vigilant scout, his keen instincts helped protect his family and community during one of the darkest chapters in history. This early act of courage foreshadowed a life marked by strength and service. He later became an elite member of a special protective force for Filipino congressmen and political leaders—a role he served with dignity and discretion. A Life of Love and Family While stationed in Pampanga, Celestino met the love of his life, Lydia “Luding” Ruiz, whom he affectionately called Inang. The two shared an extraordinary 69-year marriage, raising a beautiful family and creating a lifetime of memories that spanned continents—from the Philippines to Dededo, Guam, then Oxnard, California, and finally Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, they raised nine children: Alex, Lourdes, Willie, Leny, Jun, Joaquin (“King”), John, and Boiet, and honor the memory of their late son Nicomedes. Celestino was the proud grandfather of 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, each one a shining example of his enduring love and guidance. He is also remembered by his siblings Rudy, Nellie, and Ising, and reunites in peace with his brother, Lorenzo. The Man Behind the Legacy Celestino had a profound love for music, action films, watching wrestling, war documentaries, guns, and boxing, especially watching UFC with family. Despite his strong and noble past, he was known for his gentle spirit, quick wit, and peaceful presence. Around his neck, he wore a necklace that read “small but good,” a humble phrase that captured the quiet greatness of his soul. To his family, he was a constant—firm, kind, and always present. To the world, he was a hero. His legacy is etched into the hearts of those he loved and protected, and his story will be passed down for generations. Forever Our Light We honor Celestino Remo Soliza Sr.—a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and beloved great-grandfather.
