Benjamin Feao Tupuola

Benjamin "Mino" Feao Tupuola 1950 - 2016 Benjamin "Mino" Feao Tupuola, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and soon-to-be great grandfather. Mino passed away peacefully at the age of 66, Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at UMC in Las Vegas. He previously lived in Fairbanks and Anchorage, Alaska and recently moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on September 17, 1950, in Fagasa, Tutuila, American Samoa to Faafeao and Onolina Tupuola. Mino first came to the United States in 1966 and lived in Bell, California and graduated from Bell High School where he played football. He attended Harbor Junior College in Harbor City, California and was an excellent football player. Mino married Olita Young on March 27, 1971 in Los Angeles, California. He served in the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1988. They had two daughters, Victoria Amiperia Samalaulu Tupuola and Mina Marie Malualagi Tupuola, both born in Torrance, California. During Mino's military service, the family lived in Missouri, Germany, Georgia, and Alaska. After retiring from the Army, Mino worked and retired from the Sr. ROTC at University of Alaska Fairbanks after 20 years. Mino loved fishing, golf, bowling, following his grandkids and their sports and spending time with family and friends. People loved Mino for his honesty and his sense of humor. He loved to read and he was immensely interested in politics and did not let what people thought of him keep him from expressing his strong opinions. He was described by his granddaughter as the reason why their family remains strong. He always made sure that whatever they wanted to do they'd be great. He never doubted them. He was found to always be passionate about whatever he was talking about. He will be sorely missed. Mino was preceded in death by his parents and brother Faafeao Tupuola, and his sister Malia Mainuu. He is survived by his loving wife Olita, daughters Victoria Waters and Mina Nix, his grandchildren Tigne Shelton, Nikaehl Taylor, Daishen Nix, Damajia Nix, his brother Fred Tuinei and numerous nephews and nieces. A celebration of Mino's life will be held Saturday, December 3 at 10:00 am at Affordable Cremation and Burial Services in Las Vegas. His brother-in-law, Rev. Steve Young will officiate the service.
