Bedur Jones

On Friday morning July 6th, Bedur M. [Davis] Jones of Las Vegas passed away peacefully at Angel Care Residential Homes. She was 93 years of age, born on September 25, 1924 Atlanta, Georgia. She was at peace at the time of her passing and went to be with the Lord who she loved. Her favorite verse in the Bible was from the KJV Hebrews 13:5 "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee". She graduated from Inglewood High School, California in the early 1940s. Married to James Robert Jones [1941] who preceded her in death, [1944]. They had no children Bedur attended UCLA College to further her career as an accountant. She held many exciting jobs during her career working for well known constructions firms located in California. She was in charge of the accounting office and would say, "it was very challenging work". She was always up to the challenge and over the years, her profession experience was appreciated by the firms that she worked for. She worked different types of jobs as she got older, but always enjoy what she did. Bedur was a member of The American Legion Auxiliary [Lennox, Calif.]. She held different offices and became Auxiliary President at a young age and loved the work that the Auxiliary did for the Veterans. She felt it to be a privilege since many members of her family serviced in the military. Her love for God and Country meant a lot to her. Her wishes upon her death were, not to have a funeral, be cremated and her ashes scattered in a place of her choosing. Her other wish was, in lieu of flowers or monetary contributions that if any loved ones or friends wanted to contribute anything was to please send their contribution to their favorite charity to help others in need. She was always concerned about taking care of others. She loved life itself and did many exciting things with family and friends, such as taking trips or just being with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The only immediate surviving member of her family is her sister Helen Martin of Illinois. Other surviving members of the family, nephews - Robert Martin [Las Vegas], Stephen [Anna] Martin [Calif], Richard Martin [Illinois], Richard [Louise] Hersey [Idaho] and family. Other nephews and nieces: Cliff B Hersey, Diane [Martin] Mooney, Ruth [Bruce] Corsaw and Becky [Jim] Burson [all from Calif]. Terry [Jim] Anderson, Judy [Tom] Bradish and Frank [Susan] Davis [all from Texas]. Living in the immediate Las Vegas area were two great-nieces Kristy Martin, [great-great nephew Justin, Kristy's son] Jennifer [Rich] Schweichier [great-great niece Armada, Jennifer/Rich's daughter]. She has many other nieces and nephews; step-nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews living throughout different states. She loved her family and her extended family and would call then on occasion to see how they were doing. Beverly Fortileza lived in Las Vegas and was an extended family member, Bedur and Beverly knew each other for over 40 years and the best of friends, she was family to Bedur. Her favorite person and long time family friend Minister Jim Schultz [Calif.], Minister Jim, called Bedur about a week before her passing and she was so happy they got to talk. Preceded in death were her parents, Francis and Lona Davis [Calif], her brother Francis Davis, his wife Donna [both from Arizona], Sister Virginia Hersey, her husband Clifford [both from Calif] Also preceding her in death was, Donna Martin, [wife of Robert Martin] [Las Vegas] which Bedur greatly loved and missed her. Janet Hersey [wife of Cliff B Hersey] [Calif] and several nieces and nephews.
