Alice Mae Oiler

Alice Mae passed away on September 3, 2022 from heart failure and will be missed beyond words by her sister, "Jo" in San Diego, CA, She will be dearly missed by family and of course her many friends and neighbors in Las Vegas, NV as well as Ohio and other neighboring states - She was Loved by ALL! Alice Mae was born on May 1, 1941 in Lancaster, Ohio to Alice and Clarence E. Bope of Lancaster, Ohio She attended Lancaster High School, and following graduation in 1959, entered a 3 year diploma program at Grant Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio, graduating with the class of 1962. After receiving her Nursing degree Alice worked alongside Dr. Miller, Orthopedic Surgeon in Columbus, Ohio, for several years. She was then employed as an RN in the Emergency Room at Mt. Carmel East, Columbus, Ohio until moving to Las Vegas, NV in 1974. Alice had an extensive career as an ER Nurse in two Las Vegas Hospitals: Sunrise Hospital and Valley Hospital. Other employment of which she was most proud of included: Utilization Review Specialist at the Montevista Hospital, Las Vegas and in Registration for LVCVA (Las Vegas Convention Visitors Authority) for 18 years. She was a member and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church and sang in the chancel Choir. In 2003, as a part of the church's 50 year anniversary, she and her husband, Gary had the opportunity to sing with the choir in England, Scotland, and Ireland as part of the Musical Mission to Great Britain. This trip along with other excursions with family and friends enriched her life. Alice had an overwhelming passion for Baseball, especially the San Diego Padres, She enjoyed swimming in her pool almost daily and also had a true love for the ocean and visited it as often as possible. Alice adored and had a true love for cats; especially Princess, Scamper, Panther, and Twi-light, Lady Grey, and Tri-Pod. Other Interests: A member with the Mesquite Club Choir and Organ Society and also participated in the Nevada Opera Theatre as time permitted. Alice is predeceased by her parents, Alice & Clarence Bope and sister, Betty Jean Cotterman, and her niece, Sabrina Lynn Cotterman Siblings: Brothers, Clarence & family (Lancaster, Oh) , Paul and family (Wichita, Ks) and sister, MaryBeth and family (San Diego, CA) She is also predeceased by her husband Gary of 57 years. Alice will be missed by her sister-In-law, Joyce & husband (Phil Bailey) in Columbus, Ohio, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins; especially Roger in Circleville, Oh.
